Women's Health Physiotherapy

A woman's body goes through many changes throughout life from pregnancy and birth and beyond. These changes can sometimes lead to pain, pelvic floor problems, changes in bladder or bowel function, or difficulties returning to exercise and everyday activities.

What Do We Do?

Personalised Physiotherapy Designed Around You

Your treatment plan is created following a detailed assessment and is tailored to your symptoms, stage of life and individual goals.

  • Scar therapy where appropriate

Hands on treatment is always combined with active rehabilitation to encourage long-term improvement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is pelvic floor assessment always internal?

No. Your assessment is tailored to your needs and preferences. If an internal pelvic floor examination is clinically appropriate, it will always be fully explained beforehand, carried out only with your informed consent and you are free to decline at any time.

Can physiotherapy help bladder leakage?

Many women benefit from pelvic floor rehabilitation, bladder retraining, education and tailored exercise programmes. Your treatment will depend on your individual assessment.

When can I start physiotherapy after having a baby?

This depends on your recovery and individual circumstances. Many women benefit from an assessment in the early postnatal period, while others attend later when returning to exercise or if symptoms develop.

Can I bring my baby to my appointment?

Absolutely. We understand that attending appointments with a baby is often part of life, and you're welcome to bring them with you.

How many physiotherapy sessions will I need?

This varies depending on your condition, goals and response to treatment. We'll discuss your treatment plan with you and review your progress as you go.

Is Women's Health Physiotherapy only for pregnancy?

Not at all. Women's Health Physiotherapy supports women through all stages of life, including pelvic health concerns, menopause, musculoskeletal conditions and post-operative recovery.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely and enables your physiotherapist to assess the relevant area.
